About Us

Continuing Competence

The Registered Dietitians Act requires the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (the College) to have a Continuing Competence Program in place to:

  • Monitor the ongoing competence of members
  • Foster an environment of life-long learning for members

The Continuing Competence Program is also a requirement to fulfill our commitment within the National Labour Mobility Agreement with Canadian dietetic regulators. This agreement stipulates that a provincial program must meet five mandatory fundamentals:

  1. Mandatory
  2. Monitored
  3. Consequences for non-compliance
  4. Annual reporting
  5. Activities are related to dietetic practice and professional standards

Professional Growth

In addition to monitoring continuing competence, the program is flexible. Outcomes are designed to support members’ professional growth and enhance their career goals.

Professional Competence

The program focuses on maintaining professional competence with respect to the six core professional standards, which are recognized by dietetic regulatory bodies across the country.
