Requirements

Language

The application forms, registration process and communication from the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (the College) is limited to English only.

If your required documents are not in English, you must provide notarized translations.

Notarized Translations

A notarized translation means that a qualified person such as a notary public, lawyer, or university official has signed and stamped the document to verify the translation. 

The Immigrant Centre provides free notary public services for permanent Manitoba residents.

Language Proficiency Tests

You require a language proficiency test if:

  • English or French is NOT your first language; or
  • You completed your dietetics education in a language other than French or English

Important

If your test results are required for Step 1: IEP Applicationthe testing agency will supply you with a written record of your test results. You must submit the results to the College with your application. Language proficiency test scores will be considered valid for 2 years from the date of the test to the date of your application to the College.

English

Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Exam (TOEFL-iBT)

    • Minimum score of 83 with no less than 19 in each of the writing, listening and reading components and a minimum score of 26 in the speaking component.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

    • Minimum score of 6.5 in each of the 4 components with overall band score of 7.
    • The Academic Module is preferred but the General Training module and One Skill Retake are accepted.

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program-General (CELPIP)

    • Minimum score of 8.0 in each category.

    • Minimum score equivalent to NCLC benchmark level 8 in each component.

Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada (TCF Canada)

    • Minimum score equivalent to NCLC benchmark level 8 in each component.
