Training

As part of your Internationally Educated Professional (IEP) Application, you must provide a summary of your practical experience  to demonstrate that you have completed a dietetic internship or practicum program that is equivalent to a Canadian internship or practicum program. 

Canadian Standards

• Students are supervised by a registered Dietitian
• Program is a minimum of 1250 hours in length
• Program is formally structured
• Program includes an evaluation component
• Areas of practice include nutrition care, health promotion/population health and food services management

If you have never completed dietetic internship or practicum program or it is less than 875 hours:
The College will instruct you to complete a Canadian accredited dietetics program to receive the practical training required to be eligible for registration in Canada. The only dietetics practical training program in Manitoba in an integrated graduate degree.

If your dietetic internship or practicum program is more than 875 hours and may be similar:
The College will direct you to undergo the Competency Assessment to determine your equivalency to the Canadian standards. This is conducted by the University of Alberta.
