Training
As part of your Internationally Educated Professional (IEP) Application, you must provide the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (the College) with a summary of your practical experience. The College will review the summary to decide if you have completed a dietetic internship or practicum program that is equivalent to a Canadian internship or practicum program.
See the IEP Application Form for details.
Canadian Standards
- Students are supervised by a registered Dietitian
- Program is a minimum of 1250 hours in length
- Program is formally structured
- Program includes an evaluation component
- Areas of practice include nutrition care, health promotion/population health and food services management
The College will take your work experience into consideration, but your work experience does not replace an internship or practicum program.
If your dietetic internship or practicum program is less than 875 hours and is NOT equivalent:
The College will instruct you to complete an internship program in order to upgrade your training.
If your dietetic internship or practicum program is more than 875 hours and may be equivalent:
The College will instruct you to complete a practicum assessment. During the practicum assessment, your practical skills will be evaluated. The evaluation will determine whether or not you are required to complete an internship program.
If you have never completed a dietetic internship or practicum program:
The College will advise you on actions that you can take to become eligible to register for an internship training program in Manitoba.
