Academic Assessment
Academic Assessment
Students in the Masters of Applied Human Nutrition Program (MAHN) at the University of Manitoba must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (CDM).
If you received your dietetic/nutrition undergraduate degree from an accredited program more than three years ago and/or were internationally educated, you must demonstrate academic equivalency and currency before you apply to the MAHN Program.
The Knowledge and Competency Assessment Tool (KCAT) is used to determine whether you meet the current Canadian academic standards and is conducted virtually through the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO). For more information about the KCAT, including the dates that the KCAT is offered and cost, please visit CDO’s website.
LEVEL I KCAT RESULT
If you achieve a Level I result on the KCAT, you meet the academic requirements and are eligible to register with CDM. You must arrange to have CDO send your KCAT results directly to CDM. A letter confirming your eligibility will be provided to support your application to the MAHN Program.
You must also meet the other eligibility requirements for registration with CDM. More information on the application process for registration can be found here.
Please note: A Level I result on the KCAT does not guarantee admission to the MAHN Program.
LEVEL II AND III KCAT RESULTS
Your Level II and Level III results on the KCAT will determine your next steps. Please refer to the information on the KCAT results Level II and III, on the CDO’s website.
