Am I required to be registered with the College to become a Registered Dietitian (RD)? |
Yes. You must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (the College) in order to legally work as a Dietitian in Manitoba. Even if you have a degree or experience working in dietetics in another country, you may not call yourself a Dietitian in Manitoba until you have become registered with the College. |

What are the registration requirements? |

How long does it take to become a Registered Dietitian (RD)? |
The minimum time to complete the registration process is 12 months, but the time and cost will depend on your assessment results. |

The registration process usually costs $6,000 or more. |

I want to become a Registered Dietitian (RD). What key steps must I complete? |
Step 1: IEP Application Gather the necessary documents, complete and submit your application, and pay the required fees. Step 2: Document Review The College will review your application to determine the steps you must complete to be eligible for registration. Step 3: Competency Assessment Based on your Document Review, you may be directed to under a Knowledge and Competency Assessment Test (KCAT) or the Substantial Equivalency Testing (SET) to determine your competency compared to Canadian standards.
Step 4: Graduate Dietitian All Internationally Educated Dietitians must:
As a Graduate Dietitian, you can work with some restrictions. Step 5: Registered Dietitian All Internationally Educated Dietitians who pass the exam (CDRE) will automatically have their registration changed from to Registered Dietitian (RD) from Graduate Dietitian.

What employment opportunities are available if I do NOT register with the College? |
If you decide not to pursue registration with the College, your degree in Nutrition may help you secure employment within the nutrition community. However, you will NOT be permitted to use the title Dietitian since you will NOT be registered with the College. |
