Graduate Dietitian

A Graduate Dietitian licence is required to work in the capacity of a dietitian, with conditions, and to write the next Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination.

Graduate Dietitian Application Process:

The steps in the application process will depend on whether you are currently registered with the College or not.

I am registered with the College as a dietetic intern

  • You will be applying for a registration change.
  • You will already have an account with the College.
  • Login using the same email you used for your dietetic intern application.

Documents Required:

  • Original letter from your program sent directly to the College stating that you have successfully completed the dietetic internship/practicum program.
  • Copy of your current resume which can be uploaded when you apply online.

Fees:

  • Upon application, you will be charged an initial application fee of $120.00.
  • Once your application has been approved, an invoice for the applicable fee(s) will appear on your account.
    • Registration fee: $615.00 per year, or $51.25 per month prorated based on the month of registration.
    • Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam (CDRE): $600.00.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for graduate dietitian application and to register for the CDRE: August 12, 2024.
  • CDRE Dates: November 7 and 8, 2024

I am not registered with the College as a dietetic intern

  • Create an account with the College.

Documents Required:

  • Copy of your current resume, which can be uploaded when you apply online.
  • Original criminal record checks with vulnerable sector check, adult and child abuse registry checks. All checks must be completed within six months of application.  Please be aware that only original documents are acceptable for application for registration with the College.
    • If you reside in Winnipeg, you can order your criminal record checks online from the Winnipeg Police Service. The results will be sent to you directly from the Winnipeg Police Services either through email or for pick -up. If the results are sent to you by email, forward the email to the College. If you are picking up the results at the police station, send the document in its original form, sealed in the envelope. Otherwise, the document that is available for you to print out will be stamped with the word ‘VOID’ and is not acceptable to the College.
    • If you don’t reside in Winnipeg, please contact your local police service
  • Official transcripts sent directly from the University OR transcripts sealed in an envelope, including the university seal and signature on the envelope. We do not accept email copies.
  • Original letter from your internship director, send directly to the College, verifying that you have completed an accredited internship program. We do not accept email copies.
  • Copy of your certificate of graduation, which can be uploaded when you apply online.
  • Proof of identity and current legal name, such as a copy of your passport or drivers licence, which can be uploaded when you apply online.

Apply to the College

 

 Important
  • You can work as a Graduate Dietitian (with conditions) while you wait to write the exam.
  • Your registration as a Graduate Dietitian is valid until you pass the exam or until March 31, whichever comes first.
  • Once you pass the exam, your Graduate Dietitian licence will automatically change to Registered Dietitian. Otherwise you will  need to renew your Graduate Dietitian licence by March 31.
  • To renew your licence, you must participate in the CDM Continuing Competence Program.
